Speaking vs Content Distribution

As you may know, I’ve been doing lots of research on our industry lately. Really trying to get a feel for what’s going on in the hearts and minds of my friends who speak for a living. Here’s what I’ve learned: The overall trend in the public speaking business has left many speakers frustrated about how the industry works these days.

I’ve reported to you, my friends and followers, since 2003 or so that online video was going to make a real (very real) impact on pretty much every industry, including public speaking.

I’ve studied the market closely and feel strongly that the narrowing of niche markets, the access to world wide audiences and shift from being “a speaker” to being a “content provider who speaks as a form of distribution” was underway.
