Is there any question that public speakers marketing has changed? What once started as a single drop of rain has now progressed into a monsoon of free courses, videos, content and information, with every marketer all hoping to get me to want even more information.

In the public speaking business training and coaching programs I offer, a questionnaire is used as a precursor to help me understand several aspects of the public speaker’s business and where they most need (or want) help.

When you work with speakers as much as I do, you find that most are talented communicators but are in need of help with the business part of speaking. Lots of information is available but few address “passion” for the topic.

Speakers searching for public speaking tips and visit my public speaking blog regularly can tell that I want speakers to earn significantly more of their income without traveling to speak so often. It’s my niche and something I study with regularity.

To follow is an article I wrote in 2000, while still living in San Diego. As I read through it, I realized that this might be useful to anyone who is a regular visitor to Unforgettable Speakers. Please take a moment to comment if you like it, agree or even if you disagree…

I spend most of my work time researching tips for public speaking and my friends who make their living in public speaking.
