The “New Rules” of Speaker Training And Speaker Marketing – Part One
Many speakers have found this year to be perhaps the most challenging to their success on so many levels and have become clear that what once worked no longer does. There are a series of new rules for speaker training as well as speaker marketing and these rules have forever changed old business models and methods.
I recently published a new report called “Public Speaking (*as you know it) Is DEAD!”, which you can find here on this site. In the report I demonstrate how, in an economy where the meetings market has been cut to the bone and there are less speaking opportunities than before, there is actually a greater opportunity than ever to serve our niche audience and make a large income.
While I know that the large income will appeal to many of you, if you truly want that, you’ll need to adopt the “new rules” of speaker training and speaker marketing for it to happen for you.
What are the new rules, you say?
I’ll be covering them in detail, in a series of posts over the next several months, but the first one is that you’ll need to think and act like a publisher, not a speaker…
In reality you are a publisher who speaks as a way of distributing your information to your audience.
When you think like a publisher, you think about markets, market share and about having a content strategy that serves your niche market in a way that ensures you attract your personal share of the market.
Some of the internal actions required by this rule is that you:
1) record everything (preferably in video first)
2) you re purpose your materials in ways that serve the most people.
When your initial recording is a video, you can, with ease make audio programs from it, transcribe it into a book, turn books into workbooks, create a series of articles or blog posts from it and so much more.
But make no mistake, this is a point of view you need to adapt if you want success as a speaker in 2010 and beyond. You’ll notice in the material I’m putting out that my approach to speaker marketing does not require cold calling seeking speaking engagements. My way of doing speaker training has NOTHING to do with your stage presence.
The rules have changed and I’m the only one who seems to have straight information for you on this topic. So stay tuned, I’ll have more on the new rules in posts to come.
